Salem Health and Marion County bring COVID vaccines to Woodburn

Healthcare workers, educators and child development specialists for migrant farm worker families vaccinated

Salem Health, in partnership with Marion County Health & Human Services provided more than 330 COVID vaccinations at the Salem Health Medical Clinic - Woodburn, January 28-30. The goal of the clinic was to make vaccinations more accessible to outlying areas of members of the BIPOC community.

“Vaccines mean hope, and we want to make sure everyone has access, no matter where they live or what language they speak,” said Cheryl Wolfe, Salem Health president and CEO. “Our vaccine clinic in Woodburn is one example of ways we are reaching out to every eligible individual in our service area.”

The Woodburn vaccine clinic served those in the Oregon Health Authority’s Phase 1a group and educators, including childcare workers.  On Saturday, the clinic focused on vaccinating members of the Oregon Child Development Coalition (OCDC), whose services support migrant and seasonal farm workers and their young children.

“We are grateful for Salem Health bringing the vaccine clinic to the Woodburn community and look forward to working together to vaccinate our community,” said Robert Reyna, program manager, OCDC. “Vaccinations for our child development staff mean a safe environment for the employees and the children and families we serve.”

The four-hour clinic on Saturday administered more than 200 vaccines, with two interpreters onsite to guide individuals through the process. Wait times were minimal with individuals spending only 30-45 minutes at the clinic, including the 15-minute post-vaccination monitoring.

Salem Health and Marion County Health & Human Services are committed to holding future vaccine clinics in the Woodburn community as vaccine supply is available.  Individuals who received their first dose in Woodburn will return to the clinic for their second dose.
